Uplighting is Now Available!

ABCDJ now is offering uplighting as an option, whether you use us as a DJ or not! Uplighting dramatically changes the feel of the atmosphere at any location to make it more warm and inviting to you and your guests.
With the cost of the uplighting, we will deliver and setup up the lights, as well as come and pick them up when you are done! We can do multiple colors, and even make some of the lights sound activated during the dance, if desired! Setup and teardown is always free, and as long as you are within 30 miles of the Des Moines, Iowa area there is no travel cost.
Here are some pictures taken of the new uplights at a gym where we were performing recently. The lights are LED's, so they do not get hot like old uplighting did. Please let us know if you are interested in adding this to your next event!

We were honored to perform at the wedding reception of Jacob and Sylvia Hamilton on November 19, 2011. Here are just a couple of pictures from the event. Not too often that you see a kilt being worn!

10-1-2011 – Moore Wedding Reception

We had the privilege of performing at Kori and Stephanie Moore’s wedding reception at The Forte in downtown Des Moines. Here are some pictures of the night! This crowd had a lot of great requests all night long and kept the dance floor full!

We made a long trip out to Dedham, Iowa yesterday to help Danny and Jessica celebrate their wedding. There was no shortage of good times or music all night long. Here are a couple of pictures from the night.

Introducing You DJ Iowa

We're proud to announce that You DJ Iowa is now up and running!
Whether you are interested in having music at your class reunion, anniversary party, wedding reception, or whatever else you can think of, we have the music to fit your event.
For $199, you rent 2 speakers, 1 sound mixer, and 1 iPod with preloaded music. We even have an extra headphone jack so you can hook your own iPod or computer up with ease! You don't want to set up the equipment yourself? For an extra $50 You DJ Iowa will setup the equipment for you, as long as you live in the Des Moines Metro area. If not, we reserve the right to charge a small additional cost for travel.
We also Emcee for $50 per hour, 2 hours total. This will help you make sure a professional DJ who is used to speaking in front of crowds does all of your introductions and announcements!

Wedding Party Dance – Video!

Videos are a great way to see how the DJ interacts and get people out on the dance floor. So, here is the first of many short videos to come showing how we entertain.
This particular video was taken at the White Oak Winery in White Oak, IA. The Bride and Groom wanted a song that would allow them to get their guests out of their seats and to the dance floor during the "Wedding Party" dance. So, they chose Get Up Off That Thing by James Brown. Watch for the stream of people coming to the dance floor toward the end of the video.

Picking a Wedding DJ

What is important to you as you select a wedding DJ? EHow.com posted an article on How to Pick the Perfect Wedding DJ, so let's use that as a starting point.
- Committment – ABCDJ knows that we only have one chance to get your reception right, so we can't have a "We'll to better tomorrow" mentality. We do much more than play music at your reception.
- Does the DJ have a website? Obviously, you know the answer to this one already! We're currently planning on adding more pictures and discussions about the receptions we DJ to potential clients a feel for where we DJ and how often.
- Professionalism & Experience. Since 1984 we have been helping the Des Moines area dance, and we wouldn't still be in business if we didn't do that. Our #1 way we get new clients is by referrals of past clients, so says something

January 9 – Wedding Expo

ABCDJ will be at the Your Wedding Iowa Bridal Forum at the West Des Moines Sheraton Hotel this Sunday, January 9. The forum runs from 10:30am until 3:30pm.
If you saw the Facebook Ad make sure you mention it to save extra money off of your reception when you book with us. If you did not, let us know that you saw our new website to receive the same discount!
